Support and Funding
For companies locating at Roslin BioCentre there is a wealth of support available. Close links with Scottish Enterprise (SE), Scottish Enterprise Edinburgh and Lothian (SEEL) and Midlothian Council smooth the progress of companies choosing to establish themselves here. Local For companies locating at Roslin, Midlothian Council may be able to offer assistance through the Midlothian Business Development Programme and businesses may be eligible for grants to encourage innovation, business development and to help cover investment costs. The Midlothian Small Business Enterprise Fund provides interest free loans for micro businesses with the potential to become commercially viable. Funding may be used to assist with business start up costs, develop new products, fit out premises or to purchase new machinery or equipment. Scottish Scottish Enterprise and its partners provide a range of services and support packages designed to help life science companies. Roslin BioCentre has a dedicated Account Manager at SEEL who is able to signpost support and funding available to tenants. In most cases it is not necessary to be a ‘Scottish’ company in order to qualify for funding, but beneficiaries must be able to show that they are, or will be able to provide benefit for Scotland or the Scottish Economy. UK Additionally, support and funding may also be available from a number of UK organisations.
